What is Sliding Scale AKA dreams for a new economy

We have written about our love for Sliding scale before, Sliding scale is an experiment and a practise in trust! . Since opening we have expanded how and where we offer sliding scale and have updated our guide to help expand and dream up a new economy.

SLIDING SCALE + Why "You've got mail" is a n IRL capitalist nightmare 💻

We are proud to run our workshops on a sliding scale and have crated some guidelines to help determine where you may land and how we can dream up a new economy with all in mind. 🚀 We pay our facilitators from sharing the profits from classes 60/40. This allows us to share what we have got, when we have got it. Rising tides lift all boats!

Our mid point will always be the cost of the workshop/stuff/thing. Consider paying more to pay it forward and support our lower tiers. Art is for everyone to make and enjoy, this is one way Okay Shoe creates accessible art and wellness. Money is not energy, money is part of our nervous systems and just one form in which we can craft change in this world. Choose what feels within your capacity to share.

Below is a guide we have crafted for our workshops. Sliding scale works when we practise trust and nonjudgmental sharing.

🍄Lowest tiers // for BIPOC folks
🍃Less than mid tiers // For less resourced and/or freelance artists
🌸Mid tiers// For White creative and professionals AKA the cost of the class
🌵Highest tiers // For Well resourced professionals AKA pay it forward to help sustain our lower tiers.

What to pay more or sponsor a spot for someone else? Get in touch with us at hello@okayshoe.com so we can craft a sustainable artist practise for me + you + our artists we pay!
